Being patient means trusting the process. Trusting the process means understanding that all good things take time. Understanding that means knowing that it’s not about the destination but about the journey in life. I realized this, once again, when I had a week “off” and did things I normally wouldn’t do for myself.
At the pace I go, I never make time for myself. At the 100mph rate I’m used to, I never make time to actually write. With the personality that I have, I forgot how important it is to take a breath and think for myself. With a week off, I was able to regain the idea of what life is supposed to be about.
Life is about moments and making the best of each and every opportunity that is presented. When you try to please everyone and do everything for others, you lose sight of who you are and what's truly important. People can be selfless but there hits a point when your selflessness can be detrimental to your personal well-being. If you're not taking care of your own needs, you will not be able to help others in the way you truly want to. Making time for yourself, to simply just sit and reflect, is just as important as getting sleep or eating a meal. Without "down time" or "me time" you'll quickly figure out there's "no time" and before you know it you'll just be "out of time."
